Shake It! is coming…This Saturday
5th March 2009
On Saturday March 7th in a Southwark warehouse, two of the best and longest running residencies from The End find a new venue and new style for 2009. Laurent Garnier will play all night in Room 1, with Layo & Bushwacka! featuring all night in Room 2. Both acts are world famous for their all-night-long DJ sets at The End, and Shake It! develops these sets in a whole new environment. March 7th will be the first of four parties running through the year.
The events will be run by Layo; Liam, the general manager of The End and a familiar face to anyone who walked down West Central Street over the club’s 13 years; and Bushwacka!
All the artists have been busy in the studio; Laurent Garnier launches his new album in May and Layo & Bushwacka! have a whole batch of new releases and remixes. Shake it! launches on Saturday March 7th and will be a very special new event in London. As the name suggests, this is about letting go and feeling the music. The warehouse will be kitted out beautifully with immaculate sound and lighting, the attention to detail that The End is famous for, and many familiar faces working as part of the team. There will be other guests over the year.
Tickets will be available from Ticketweb

I’m still a little confused… Is this just a club night, or a club? Will Laurent, Layo, and Bushwacka be the only acts at these parties, or will there be other residencies?!

Does anyone know where the pictures (Taken by the pretty blonde lass based mostly at the L&B Room) would be posted at?

i’ve been clubbing for 15 years and this was one of the best nights i’ve ever been to, an absolutely superb all night long… roll on the next three ones later this year… even give us the same dj line up!

both rooms were wicked all night long, the sound was impeccable, no ringing ears etc (as expected as it was by the end’s crew!), bar was reasonable, toilets were spotless, we all left with massive grins on our faces at the end and still pretty sober as i didnt want to forget any of the night!
can’t wait for the next, you’ve reaffirmed my love of clubbing after the last couple of years of starting to get bored of the whole scene!

same sentiments here Zubin, the warehouse setting certainly gave it a more illicit feeling that i’ve not experienced before with such a great line-up. nice one shake it!

Brilliant. L&B rocked it. We dont get out that much these days but couldn’t pass this one up. We were pleased not be the only 30somethings there too – great crowd, great sound, great music. Keeping the dream alive, love it!

I came all the way from Glasgow to be involved in your very special night. Id heard about the famous End but Shake it lived up to my expectations and more. The atmosphere was electric, the music was deep dark and nasty and the london crowd were friendly and beautiful! Thank you so much for my Shake it experience and i can guarentee it wont be my last!!! xxx

Sorry Jono but £5 for a redstripe is not reasonable especially seeing every one’s skint at the mo neither is £20 door entry for a grotty warehouse. Over priced and over rated. Layo and bushwaka were good but the sound was not all that and there room was to packed to enjoy. As for Mr garnier well his mixing could of been better as well as his slightly cheesey set. Not that impressed really. Matter was £18 the week before. Better lighting quicker bar and you didn’t have to stand in a puddle of piss to go to the loo!

NO FREE WATER – dangerous
portaloos – messy
organization – poor
overcrowded
This is unfortunately not The End, and never will be.
More likely a retirement fund in the making..

Good night, especially L&B, and it’s great to see a new club night appearing. A few things would make it a lot better though:
- sound wasn’t great – it needs more speakers all around (especially the back of the main room). It also then wouldn’t need to be so crazy loud at the front. Sound seemed much better in the L&B room.
- too packed in the L&B room, needs a bigger space.
- getting in took ages even with tickets.
- getting coats back took ages, seemed very disorganized.
- bar in the first room (not sure about the other) had run out of water by 5am. (oh and there wasn’t any gin for sale at any time!)

ah i was only drinking vodka redbulls or vodka lemonades at two tokens each = 4 quid… weren’t the tokens 2quid each, therefore red stripe was 4quid too? bottles in fabric and matter were 4.50 until recently when they seem to have come back down to 3.90, so the price is on a par with other clubs.
i would have thought there was free water supplied, thats not good at all. i did hear they’d ran out of water bottles in the last hour or so of the night but would have thought they would still be able to give out free water from somewhere…
i’d forgotten about the pool of pee around the mens urinals where they’d overflown, yeah that wasn’t good
i started using other ones when i saw that.
i thought the sound in both rooms was great… loud, clear and no ringing ears the next day.
not sure why sax_eddie has said the organisation was poor, we only queued to get in for about 10mins (altho we didnt get there til 1.30ish) and i didnt think it was overcrowded either, i’ve been way more cramped and pushed around in the end which was consequently never a favourite of mine at all…
i don’t really think there’s any atmosphere in matter at all, can’t really compare the two, its like a stadium club for stadium events.
